Flooding in California

We were planning to spend the next five days at the beautiful town of Cambria in California...

The weather changed those plans, once we saw the main street of Cambria flooded and mud washing down the range on the access roads to that area. We quickly decided to backtrack to safer ground. Here's what the flooded river looked like in Paso Robles as we left the area:
We are safe but there were treacherous conditions including mud slides in the region we escaped from. Google maps did eventually show that area as flood affected but not until hours after we'd fled.
So many road closures were happening yesterday that we were lucky to choose a safe path out of the region.
Mud slides were my biggest concern going over the range on highway 46 and there were quite a few including the next highway down, which we've used previously to get to Cambria.
The weather channels are calling this weather pattern an atmospheric river as repeated storms just keep pummelling this parched landscape.
