Spring has sprung

Henry is happiest on my lap on the balcony
There are a few ways to tell that spring has really started here in Colorado, to begin with is the fact that Henry and Ebony think the Balcony is the best place to be when they are at home. They also enjoy chasing the rabbit families that live under bushes around our apartment complex.

One of the big surprises for me on my first trip to Colorado was how brown everything here is in winter. It is the exact opposite of at home where the hot dry summers turn everything brown, here the cold winters make all the plants dormant for the winter months. And in winter at home in Australia everything is green because of all the winter rains, whereas here everything is green in summer! So as the weather changes I look forward to the beautifying of Colorado...

We have had perfect weather some days so the plants have actually started to grow again in the couple of weeks since our last blizzard. The grass is more green than brown in some places and the plants have new growth on them.

The area outside our balcony, it isn't just the evergreen pines that are green now
Spring break is over and I am going back to work today after 2 weeks off, and of course this majestic spring in Colorado has to shock us back to reality. Today's maximum temp will be 17c but then tomorrow we are expecting another blizzard so the maximum is forecast to be -8c !!!! Now that is a huge variation in temperature in just 24hrs OMG! And we are expecting a foot of snow, it'll be our first blizzard on a weekday, so I am waiting to see if it is declared a snow day so I can stay home from work or if it is a late start day when we start at about 10.30am to give the snow plow teams more time to plow the roads.
Either way it'll be an adventure...
So that is the beginning of spring in Colorado :)
