The Broadmoor debacle...

Matt owed me a nice weekend at the Broadmoor, a luxury hotel in Colorado Springs http://www.broadmoor.com/newrules/?nck=ppc_new-news_brand&gclid=CMXJ5ciVprgCFY1DMgod-kYAsw
Why you ask? Because he went there for a work trip for the weekend recently and I was too sick to go :(
So last weekend he had planned to play golf there (a $200 a game course) with work colleagues, so we decided to stay 1 night and make a weekend of it. I was delighted to find that despite the fact that it is a 5 star resort they do allow pets to stay with you in your room (for $50 per pet per night).
Saturday we started the day with the 1hr drive to Colorado Springs then we went hiking it went well except the bit where I fell flat on my arse whilst hiking on a steep gravelly slope, at least i didn't injure anything but my pride although there were a few bruises! Then we went to Manitou Springs to shop in the quaint little village and buy good fudge :) After that we did some antiquing before finally checking in at the Broadmoor at about 3pm. As soon as we dumped our belongings in the room we walked the dogs around the lake, because Henry almost pooped in the room just whilst we were there for 5 mins dumping our stuff, that was when the first sign of the impending disaster struck. Henry was very pleased to get outside to the grass because he had diarrhea!! OMG NO! So our $350 a night room was plastered with toilet training pads in a hope that if he was desperate to poop he would do it on them like he does at home in the apartment.

We walked them every couple of hours and we were hoping once we went to bed that he had voided his bowel enough. But at 1.30 am he became fidgety so i suspected that he need to go out. So in the dead of night I headed for the elevator with both dogs. We only got as far as the lobby when Henry decided he couldn't wait any longer and pooped on the gorgeous rug in the historic luxury hotel OMG. I quickly rushed him outside and thought I'd clean up the mess as soon as i was sure he was finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we walked around outside for 15mins in the dark, it was a lovely night and I was enjoying the walk (although dreading the cleanup in the lobby to come) until I sensed something behind me and turned to find we were being stalked by a freakn deer, seriously at 1.30am with a full grown deer walking only 4 or 5 yards behind me! I am lucky I wasn't the next one to do a shit! So we rushed back inside where I was pleased to find the lobby empty and a maids cleaning cart sitting off to the side (I am sure in a hotel like the Broadmoor that is not common practice but I was in luck!), so with two dogs in tow I pulled out a poo bag to scoop up the liquid deposit from the rug, found a cloth and a spray bottle of disinfectant and cleaned the rug. Thank god for that maids cart.

Then I returned to the room and informed Matt that his darling dog had shat on the lobby rug. I lay down to go back to sleep and found myself laughing!! I absolutely got into a fit of giggles at 2am about the predicaments I had found myself in in the last 30 mins.

Then at 4.30am Henry licked Matthew awake to take him out again, I advised Matthew to leave Ebony behind so he could carry Henry in the elevator and through the lobby to avoid any further confusion about what is grass and what is carpet!

So after the dramas of the night and very little sleep I wasn't sure Matt's golf game was going to be anywhere near par, oops! But we just had to keep remembering the lovely environs we found ourself in:
The view from the balcony

The clouds are coming in for an afternoon storm

The shower curtain was a bit over the top!

The view from the balcony just kept getting better

Henry decided to sleep in our bed

Ebony liked the armchair
So after we three people had had a rough night we again walked the dogs before we went down to the restaurant that was near the aforementioned lobby and we had a nice buffet breakfast together before Matt went off to golf. Brett and I promptly returned to bed until the alarm went off at 11am and we had to get ready for the midday check out time. So Brett and I decided to do a scenic drive to Cripple Creek for a couple of hours whilst we waited for Matt to finish golf, because we were way too tired for the continuation of antiquing that I had previously planned!
