The Weekday Women's hiking group...
I am continuing to go on a hike every Wednesday morning with the Jefferson County Weekday Women's Hiking group. Today we did a 3 mile hike at Dear Creek Canyon. The problem with a group hike is that whilst you wait around for the others to arrive you have time to read all the warning signs, which can be a little off putting LOL
I didn't really take this sign seriously until Angie a fellow hiker turned up and said she saw a bear here last time she hiked the canyon :O
This sign I did read and I did intend to keep my eye out for snakes but you never really think you will see one. But today for the first time I did see a rattlesnake, fortunately we were warned of its presence on the path ahead by a fellow hiker otherwise it is possible we would have stepped on it as we were busy chatting as we hiked!!
These next few signs are new, I hadn't seen them here or at any other hiking venue before, but tomorrow is the 4th of July and fireworks are a tradition that dates back to the original Independence Day and the signing of the Declaration of Independence, so i guess some idiots need to be reminded that it is wildfire season in Colorado.
But it is all worth it for a bit of fresh air and exercise, this is the view from the car park. You can see the weather was perfect for hiking :)
