Day 2 in New Mexico
So day 1 in NM we spent the day exploring Santa Fe's plaza district and since all the museums were closed it was a little disappointing but we made the most of it. So on day two we decided to drive an hour to Albuquerque NM to ride the world's longest aerial tramway up Sandia Peak.
The weather had improved so the roads were clear of ice and snow thank goodness:
After an hour on the road we were nearing the tramway and beginning to get excited:
Then in the last 5 miles we began to gain altitude and encounter cloud!
And more cloud!
On arrival at the tramway we were greated by this little gem of information:
And this was our view of the peak from the starting point:
As we began our ride to the top we were worried that this may be a waste of $58, we thought we might see nothing but cloud!
But as we neared the top we rose above the clouds:
It was icy at the top, a winter wonderland:
So the spectacular views were worth the drive and the money!
And once we got back down I got up close to one of the local cacti, so amazing, I love the different vegetation, can't wait to go to the Santa Fe botanic garden next time we are in NM.
