Ben's Road Trip day 1

Denver Colorado to Kayenta, Arizona:

About 100 miles of icy roads to carefully drive across the Continental Divide (The Rocky Mountains) we were only doing 40mph on that stretch of road!

Then we had another 100 miles or so of this icy and slushy mix in which we saw two cars that had run off the road and this truck that jack-knifed in the median strip:

Glenwood Canyon definitely looked different to last time I was there cycling the canyon:

Yes that is ICE not Snow!!

Then we got to Utah and after 50 miles or so we turned off the interstate highway and headed south bound for Arizona, the roads were clear and the skies were blue for a few hours:

But as we neared Monument Valley we were racing the sunset in a hope of seeing the amazing Valley before dark, but as you can see the sun was winning the race. Just what I needed after 3hrs of driving on icy roads this morning now I had an hour driving into the bloody sun:

That area had some amazing scenery with rich red rock formations that were gorgeous:

As the sun was setting the silhouettes it created were wonderful:

But those rock formations in the distance are the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Lands we were trying to get to before dark:

It was dusk when we past there so it was too dark to stop for photos and sightseeing but tomorrow we are bound for the Grand Canyon so fingers crossed we'll actually see it in daylight LOL
