Arizona
We drove almost 400miles of Arizona roads today and saw The Grand Canyon, Sedona and finally arrived in Phoenix where we are staying the night.
The long road ahead of us as we started the day:
Our first glimpse of the canyon area when I stopped to buy jewelery from a lovely Navajo man at his stall beside one of the scenic overlooks:
Once we were in the National Park the first viewpoint had a tower:
Glad I wasn't hiking! With warning signs like these along the road who'd want to?
The Canyon Rd was icy due to the frigid temps:
After the Canyon we headed for Sedona another long drive:
But the gorgeous little town nestled at the base of a canyon was worth it! And the little detour got us out of the snow storm on the main highway!
Sedona is surrounded by gorgeous red rocks:
Then as we headed for Phoenix where we are staying tonight I began to see my first cactus trees!!!! They are everywhere along the interstate highway we were on! So cool!!!!!!!!!! Hoping to get a photo next to one tomorrow.

Yes he looks cold because it is 21'F ( -6 'C)and there is a very light flurry of snow falling! |
Ben doesn't like heights so he wouldn't go out to the point with me or up the tower! |
The view from the point, breathtaking! |
A storm hung over the canyon north rim the whole time we were there |

Tomorrow we drive about 350miles to San Diego on California's south coast.
I don't blame Ben for not wanting to go out to the point! That looks like it's a REALLY long way down! The view from the point is definitely breathtaking! I've never been there. You've still got a lot of driving to do. Be careful!
ReplyDeleteI remember being totally mind-blown by the Grand Canyon. Ben is gorgeous, by the way! Great pics. Happy trails!
