Home from the epic drive!

So what does it feel like to get home after driving approximately 3500 miles??

It feels wonderful! We loved our journey and saw some spectacular sights along the way but home is always a good place to be - no matter where home is! We loved picking up the dogs and they went mad when we got back to the apartment, they drank from their water dish first which is weird maybe they didn't like the water at doggie camp LOL Then they just ran from room to room and started rubbing themselves all over the carpet.

We didn't even fully unpack the car the day we got back because we were soooo tired after a stressful 2 days of car trouble. But early the next day we unpacked the car and dropped it off at the dealership for repair.

Here are some more happy snaps from the journey:

Washington State, East of Mt Ranier

The divided road interstate highway system here is awesome!

We passed through BC Canada and seven US states: Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah.

Oregon farmland reminded us of 'home' in NSW Australia

In Oregon headed south with a view of Idaho

On our way to Nevada no longer interstate

Matt grabbing a well earned beer in the hotel at Elko Nevada at the end of a long day driving!

Utah's end of the Dinosaur National Monument has this awesome dinosaur fossil viewing area

CAR BREAKDOWN  NUMBER TWO, 10 miles east of Steamboat Springs

The ravine beside the car, we really didn't want to be rear-ended!

Breakdown number three Silverthorne Colorado
The temp gauge does not change from it's usual mid range position then on the steepest parts of the continental divided (all 3 times) the dashboard display says low coolant, 30 secs later the engine cuts out... Ford calls that a safety feature! I'd rather have the choice where to pull over!!! But as you can see we are NOT low on coolant because it's been 'topped up' by 2 dealerships in 9 days, it sits perfectly within the min/max lines when the engine is cool.

So the trip was awesome, the car will be traded in though as soon as we get it back from the dealership where we took it for repairs, we are understandably quite disappointed in it's performance for an 18 mth old car with only 21000 miles on the clock!
