Great Sand Dunes National Park
We're on an epic farewell USA road trip ahead of our repatriation to Australia after ten years living in Colorado.
Day 1 - Pueblo to Durango
Such a vast space and desolate landscape.
Truly spectacular!
It sits at the foot of the mountain range.
The dunes are covered in snow! (January 5, 2023)
The sun was shining through a thin layer of cloud.
So vast people look like ants.
People sled down these massive dunes!
There are lower dunes then the tallest is 699' high! We didn't climb that high. Matt hiked about half way up.
The lower dunes looked like waves of snow.
We loved this experience.
It's so unlike anywhere I've ever been.
The blue skies really made the landscape even more beautiful once the thin layer of cloud moved away.
It was only 24'f 🥶❄️
See Matt the speck in the pic above!
We were traipsing around in a mix of snow and sand...
Or just sand...
Or just snow!
A fabulous place to check out of you ever find yourself in Southern Colorado.
Then we drove over Wolf Creek Pass which was gorgeous!
